The Taos Pueblo Head Start facility uses an historic 1,000 SF former BIA Teacher’s Quarters as administrative offices with 7,500 SF of new head start and day care wrapped around it. The circular form of the main instructional area, with its expanding segments is meant to symbolize the protective circle of family and tribe as well as the expanding horizons developed through education. The building has 14” adobe walls, exposed vigas and wood deck, and clad wood double-hung windows to make it compatible with the architecture of the surrounding Pueblo.
santa clara regional adult day care | santa clara pueblo - espanola, new mexico
The Santa Clara Regional Adult Day Care is a 10,000 SF facility designed in 2002 to accommodate the needs of families caring for elders at home when the caregivers need a break, or to work, or simply to give the elders a place to socialize with their contemporaries. The building also contains offices for Seniors Programs staff and Community Health Representatives. It is located on a sloping site between the existing senior center and the Tribal Administration building.

This new facility includes Public Lobby/Integrated Support space, Judicial Administration and Court Staff, Court Programs, Courts, Prosecutor, Public Defender, Probation, Police Administration and Dispatch, Patrol and Criminal Investigation, Administration/Control Visiting, Intake/Release, Adult and Juvenile Detention, Detention Programs, Kitchen, Laundry and other support space and associated site improvements. *this project was managed by Larry Anderson previously with NCA Architects.

The project consisted of the design and construction of the K-12 school building complex including both on-site and off-site work. Included in the building project are the main classroom wings, a library, two gymnasiums, administrative support spaces for elementary and high schools, a separate maintenance and operations building that incorporates a totem-carving shop, and a field house near the outdoor athletic fields. *this project was managed by Larry Anderson previously with WHPacific.

The Santa Fe Indian School’s new Administration Building is a 19,000 square foot office building located on the SFIS campus and is the focal point of visitors, staff and students as they enter the campus. This facility projected at 93,590 square feet will include Tribal Courts, Law Enforcement and Detention. The project includes 68 Adult Male, 36 Adult Female, 8 Juvenile Boys, 8 Juvenile Girls, and 6 Juvenile Boys or Girls (Swing) beds for a total 126 beds.
